The Client’s Requirements

The client needed to relocate office equipment from premises in central Riga to new premises in Ebersberg, Germany. The cargo consisted of many items of different sizes and designs: desks and tabletops, office chairs, cabinets, shelving components, upholstered furniture and other interior elements.

This type of cargo is not uniform. Tabletops need to be protected against scratches and impacts, chair wheels and armrests must be prevented from moving or catching on other items, while furniture of different sizes needs to be positioned in the vehicle so that the items do not press against each other or become unstable during transport.

Another organisational factor was the loading location in central Riga. Vehicle access, carrying the furniture out of the building, packing and loading all had to be carried out in a carefully planned sequence so that both the team and the transport vehicle could operate safely and without unnecessary delays.

The Full-Service Relocation Solution

1. Planning the Work Sequence and Transport

Before the relocation, the cargo contents, types of furniture and overall scope of work were assessed. This made it possible to determine the required quantity of packing materials, moving blankets, securing equipment and movers, as well as select transport suitable for the office inventory.

The loading sequence was planned not only for efficient loading in Riga but also with the unloading process in Ebersberg in mind, ensuring that the required items could be removed and carried into the client’s premises in the appropriate order.

2. Packing the Office Furniture

The Diamond Connected team packed the furniture before loading it into the vehicle. Desks, office chairs and other items were protected according to their shape and vulnerable areas.

Packing film helped keep moving parts together and protected surfaces from dust and light dirt. Where additional protection against friction or impact was required, thicker protective materials and specialised moving blankets were used.

3. Moving Blankets for Furniture Protection

For this project, Diamond Connected provided specialised moving blankets, also known as furniture protection blankets. They were placed around furniture and between individual cargo units to reduce the risk of friction, scratches and impacts during transport.

Packing film and moving blankets serve different purposes. Film keeps items secured and protects them from dirt, while thick blankets cushion contact and protect corners, edges and large furniture surfaces. For valuable office furniture, using both solutions together provides the best protection.

For similar projects, we also offer moving blanket rental. This is a practical solution when the client handles part of the packing themselves or only needs protective blankets for the duration of the relocation – there is no need to purchase them for a single project.

4. Loading and Positioning the Cargo

The packed furniture was loaded into the transport vehicle in a planned sequence. Items of different shapes were positioned to make efficient use of the available cargo space while avoiding direct contact between hard surfaces.

Heavier and more stable furniture units were used as a secure foundation for the cargo arrangement, while lighter and more sensitive items were placed in suitable positions. Moving blankets were used between the furniture pieces to reduce movement and protect the surfaces throughout the journey.

5. Securing and Transporting the Cargo to Ebersberg

Once the furniture had been positioned inside the cargo area, it was secured using equipment designed for cargo securing. The aim was to prevent the cargo from shifting during braking, acceleration and cornering while avoiding excessive pressure on furniture surfaces and structures.

After the packing, positioning and securing had been checked, the cargo began its international journey from Riga to Ebersberg, Germany.

6. Unloading and Carrying the Items into the Client’s Premises

A full-service relocation does not end at the building entrance. Once the transport arrived in Ebersberg, the team unloaded the office inventory and carried it into the premises specified by the client.

The client did not have to find movers separately in Germany or coordinate several different service providers. The entire relocation process – from the first packing task in Riga to carrying the final item into the destination premises – was organised by one logistics partner.

The office furniture and interior elements were transported from central Riga to the client’s premises in 85560 Ebersberg.
